Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
