Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
