Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
