Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
