Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
