Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
