Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
