Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
