Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
