Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
