Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
