Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
