Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
