Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
