Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
